Job Summary

SUMMARY:

 

The Restaurant Cook/Dishwasher is responsible for performing various duties assigned in the Restaurant department to ensure sufficient staffing in all areas as a Cook, Busser, Dishwasher, Host and Expeditor. Performs all functions in accordance with applicable laws and gaming regulations, mission and objectives of the Sugar Creek Casino and the Wichita and Affiliated Tribes, as well as established policies, procedures and controls.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

The following is a list of the main duties/responsibilities. However, other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by Supervisor/Manager.

 

 

  1. Performs daily assigned duties efficiently while practicing all safe and sanitary procedures while working with or around food items.

 

  1. Follows all policies and procedures when performing dishwashing and cooking duties.

 

  1. Responsible for maintaining salad bar with freshly prepared high quality food, according to the day’s menu.

 

  1. Responsible for fast, clean and sanitary servicing of all menu items to the servers.

 

  1. Controls food production to include: proper cooking methods, cooking time and temperature and ensuring sanitation, handling and storage of prepared food and leftovers.

 

  1. Ensures each order sent out is uniform and consistent.

 

  1. Responsible for fast, clean and sanitary servicing of all menu items to the servers.

 

  1. Is flexible with break schedules to meet customer’s needs.

 

  1. Stocks all serving plates and utensils in restaurant and buffet.

 

  1. Properly labeling, dating covering and refrigerate prepped items for the line

 

  1. Maintains and organizes all pot, pan and dish storage areas.

 

  1. Mops and maintains all kitchen and restaurant floors.

 

 

 

  1. Maintains sanitary work area.

 

  1. Assist as needed in other areas of restaurant including kitchen prep work.

 

  1. Works well without supervision.

 

  1. Completes both daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance duties.

 

  1. Adheres to regulatory, departmental, and company policies in an ethical manner.

 

  1. Prepares for rush period of work without getting behind.

 

  1. Assists in keeping stock on hand.

 

  1. Assist with cleaning and bussing tables or other duties as assigned.

 

  1. Works in different positions as assigned by the Supervisor/Manager.

 

  1. Sort and rinse dirty dishes, all pots, pans, glass, tableware and other cooking utensils and place them in racks to send through dish machine.

 

  1. Sort and stack clean dishes. Carry clean dishes to cook’s line and other proper storage areas.

 

  1. Rewash soiled dishes before delivering.

 

  1. Remove trash and garbage to dumpster.

 

  1. Wipe up any spills to ensure kitchen floors remain dry.

 

  1. Be prepared for some late nights (especially on the weekends). Even after the last table’s been served, the kitchen needs to be cleaned and the trash has to be emptied.

 

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Knowledge of customer service

 

  1. Basic knowledge of safe food preparation and handling techniques.

 

  1. Able to obtain a Food Handler’s Permit.
  2. Able to obtain and maintain a Gaming license.
  3. Able to demonstrate flexibility to work in any non key position within the Food & Beverage Department.

 

 

 

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

 

  1. Minimum High school diploma or GED preferred.

 

  1. Six months experience in food service preferred.

 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret simple documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to respond to common inquiries from fellow employees or supervisors.  Be able to read and understand on-going casino promotions and be able to explain promotions to customers if asked.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.  Ability to properly count change to customers.

 

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Basic analytical and deductive reasoning ability.  Must be competent in computer skills.  Must have superior interpersonal relations skills.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

The Casino is open 24 hours per day; seven (7) days per week; therefore, you must be flexible to work any and all shifts. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is exposed to second hand tobacco smoke.

Must be able to stand during most of the shift and multi-task as necessary.
